What we see in Arvada homes
Older homes around Olde Town Arvada sit on mature lots with big trees, detached garages and sidewalks that have settled and cracked over the years. Pavement ants love those cracks and push up little piles of soil along the edges of driveways and walks. They come inside for greasy food, so baits matched to what they eat work better than spraying the trail.
Siberian elms are common in older parts of Arvada, and where they grow, elm seed bugs can pour into homes from mid-June through September. They are a nuisance pest and do not breed indoors, and sealing gaps around windows, vents and siding keeps most of them out.
