Local know-how
What we see in Lakewood homes
Many Lakewood neighborhoods were built in the decades after World War II, and the ranch homes from that era often have crawl spaces, older foundation vents and gaps where siding meets the concrete. Mice find those gaps every fall, and sealing them is usually worth more than another round of traps. We check the vents, the garage door seal and the lines where the air conditioner enters the house.
West Lakewood sits close to the foothills and open space, and homes that back onto open land see more deer mice in garages and sheds. Before you clean up droppings in a shed or garage, air it out and wet the droppings down rather than sweeping them.
Lakewood also has a lot of apartments and condos. Ant and bed bug problems in shared buildings often need the neighbors' units checked too, and Colorado requires us to try to notify any registered pesticide-sensitive resident in the building before we treat.

Yellowjackets in the ground right by the patio. They could not come the day I called but were there first thing the next morning, found the entrance and the nest was dead by evening.

Embarrassing problem, handled kindly. They gave us a clear prep list, explained when we could sleep in the room again and came back twice to check. No bugs since the last visit.

Mice in the garage and the shed every fall. They trapped them, sealed a lot of gaps I never knew were there and told us how to clean up the droppings safely. It took three visits, but it worked.
